A Tale of Two Rockets
North Korea’s Rocket launch had different results, depending on who was reporting.
North Korea claims the rocket, or satellite launch, was successful and that it had reached orbit. Official state announcement reiterated that the people’s rocket reach orbit approximately nine minutes after the launch.
On the flipside, the Russian space station claimed that no such object had broken into orbit. Officials form South Korea and The United States believe the object of interest failed, and fell into the Pacific Ocean.
Either way, North Korea proved one thing: they will follow through with any and all actions ordered by Dear Leader, whether allies or enemies provide consent. This should scare anyone in the Pacific Rim, notably South Korea and Japan, maybe even China. The instability of the North Korean government cannot control externally, obviously. Any attempt thus far has proven useless, or even counterproductive. Antagonizing Kim Jong-il has the effect of irritating an itch that just gets worse the more you scratch it.
